Road Bear RV information regarding the Toll Road System in the Florida Keys

Dear valued customer:

Starting 19 February 2011 the Florida Turnpike Enterprise will be implementing an all-electronic open road tolling. This will be in the beginning on the southern 47 miles stretch of the Turnpike, from US1 in Florida City to the Miami-Dade/Broward County line. The old tollbooths will be eliminated and the toll-fees cannot be paid in cash any longer.
If you travel on the Turnpike you will have the following options for payment:

1. You can contact the SunPass Customer Service Center by calling 1-888-865-5352 or visit them online at www.SunPass.com .Their representatives will provide you with information on obtaining a “SunPass” during your rental period. This will allow you to register the motor home for travel on toll roads by paying money directly into a SunPass account.

2. You can travel the Turnpike by using the “TOLL-BY-PLATE” program. This Program captures an image of the vehicle license plate and bills the registered owner of the vehicle for the toll amount. The “TOLL-BY-PLATE” program allows you to call in, register for a TOLL-BY-Plate” account and pay the tolls before an invoice will be issued. Payments can be made by cash, credit/debit card on-line or through new payment kiosks located at major retail stores.

Regardless, which option you may choose, it will be important to inform your Road Bear RV drop-off location of the fact that you traveled on the Florida Turnpike. In case that an invoice for toll fees will be sent to Road Bear RV as the registered owner of the vehicle, all charges due will be charged to your credit card on file and processed according to our Rental Provision with regard to Traffic Citations.

Description of the current SunPass Violation Enforcement System:

TOLL VIOLATION ENFORCEMENT
The SunPass Violations Enforcement System was created to pursue violators on Florida toll roads to maximize collection of toll revenues.
Florida State Law (Statute 316.1001) requires payment of prescribed tolls for the usage of toll facilities. Failure to comply with this statute may result in the assessment of a $100 or more civil penalty, three points assessed against your driver's license, assessment of court costs, suspension of your vehicle registration and/or suspension of your driver's license.
TOLL-BY-PLATE INVOICE
TOLL-BY-PLATE is an image based electronic toll collection system that uses photographic images of vehicle's license plate to identify the customer responsible for payment. It is like SunPass electronic toll collection system, but without a transponder device. TOLL-BY-PLATE provides added convenience of never having to slow down or stop to pay a toll for infrequent users of the Turnpike.
FDOT: UNPAID TOLL VIOLATION
Receipt of an Unpaid Toll Violation (UTV) may mean one or more of the following: There is inaccurate license plate information on your SunPass account; the transponder is mounted incorrectly, or not mounted, which results in your transponder functioning intermittently and causing toll violations; or the batteries in the Portable transponder need to be replaced. Florida State Law (Statue 316.1001) requires payment of prescribed tolls for the usage of toll facilities. Failure to comply with this statute may result in the assessment of a $100 or more civil penalty, assessment of court costs, and suspension of your vehicle registration and/or suspension of your driver's license.
FDOT: UNIFORM TRAFFIC CITATION
If you are issued a Uniform Traffic Citation (UTC), you must contact a Violations Representative within 30 days from the date of the issuance to have the toll deducted from your prepaid account and account information updated. When you call, please have the following available: violation document, Personal Identification Number (PIN), transponder number and vehicle tag number. If you do not reply to the notice within 30 days of issuance, the citation will go to the Clerk of the Court in the county where the citation was issued.

Herzliche Grüsse

Fredy
