Die LH bestätigte wohl, daß eines der Flugzeuge eine 747-800 auf dem Weg nach IAD war.

Zum Glück gibt es aber immer noch TCAS (Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance System) und hier wurde auch wirklich darauf gehört (im Gegensatz zum Unglück über Überlingen).
das führt dann auch zum folgenden Schluss im Report:

As to the risk, because B747(1) had B747(2) in sight as it was turning towards it, and both ac reacted to TCAS RAs thereby establishing standard vertical separation by a horizontal distance of 2.8nm, the Board opined that there was no risk of a collision.
