Hallo USA Freunde!
Wer kann mir die USA Flagge erklaeren, damit meine ich was bedeuten die Streifen und die Farben, Blau, Weiss und Rot? Die Sterne sind klar.

50 Sterne, für jeden Bundesstaat einen. Ich glaube, es ist sogar genau fest gelegt, welcher Stern zu welchem Bundesland gehört.
13 Streifen, für jeden Gründungsstaat einen.
Die Farben rot, weiß und blau haben ihren Ursprung im Union Jack als Flagge der englischen Kolonien. Ihre Symbolik im Sternenbanner ist: weiß für Reinheit und Unschuld (purity and innocence), rot für Tapferkeit und Widerstandsfähigkeit (valor and hardiness) und blau für Wachsamkeit, Beharrlichkeit und Gerechtigkeit (vigilance, perseverance, justice).

Das glaube ich eher nicht. Denn die Anordnung wurde ja mit jedem neuen Stern verändert.

Vielleicht könnt Ihr mir helfen? Laut dem Wikipedia-Artikel gibt es beim Institute of Heraldry Entwürfe für bis zu 57 Sternen (laut Englischem Wikipedia bis 56).

"When new states were admitted, it became evident, that the flag would become burdened with stripes. Congress thereupon ordered that after July 4, 1818, the flag should have 13 stripes, symbolizing the 13 original states; that the union have 20 stars, and that whenever a new state was admitted a new star should be added on the July 4 following admission. No law designates the permanent arrangement of the stars. However, since 1912, when a new state has been admitted, the new design has been announced by executive order. No star is specifically identified with any state."

Einen neueren Almanac habe ich leider zur Zeit nicht, aber das wird auch nichts Genaueres beschrieben sein.
Der Almanac, wie auch der der NY Times, ist im übrigen sehr zu empfehlen.

Die Farben haben ebenfalls bedeutung, einmal fuer amerikaner selber:
The star is a symbol of the heavens and the divine goal to which man has aspired from time immemorial; the stripe is symbolic of the rays of light emanating from the sun."
George Washington is credited for saying: "We take the stars from Heaven, the red from our mother country, separating it by white stripes, thus showing that we have separated from her, and the white stripes shall go down to posterity representing Liberty.
Many people also take the red and white to stand for the blood of those who gave their lives for freedom, and the presumed purity of the freedom ideal, respectively
Und dann symbolisch:
White signifies Purity and Innocence; Red, Hardiness and Valor; Blue signifies Vigilance, Perseverance and Justice
