Arizona, New Mexico im April

Hallo Gemeinde

Folgende Tour ist geplant:
Phoenix - Organ Pipe - Tucson - Ciricahua - White Sands - Carlsbad (oder statt dessen von Alamorgodo nördlich bis zu den Tent Rocks, wird je nach Wetterlage entschieden).
Alles obige, mit Ausnahme der Tent Rocks, die ich erst in diesem Forum "entdeckt" habe, ist gut bekannt.
Jetzt mein Problem: Der Rückweg nach Phoenix(ca. 4-5 Tage) soll südlich der I40 gehen und ist auf meiner Landkarte noch ein weißer Fleck. Gibt es in
diesem Gebiet weitere mir unbekannte Highlights, die sich lohnen.
Die einzigen Ideen die ich fand, sind die Rim Road und der mir wiederum bekannte Apache Trail

Ich würde von Alamogordo über die Kasha Katuwe Tent Rocks nach Santa Fe fahren. Dann Chaco Canyon - Bist Badlands - Canyon de Chelley - Petrified Forest - Mogollan Rim Road - Apache Trail - Phoenix.

einen Vorschlag hätte ich noch, der vermtl. noch nicht erwähnt worden ist.
Wenn Du für sowas Interesse hast, dann käme vielleicht das Very Large Array (VLA) National Radio Astronomy Observatorium in Frage. Das ist das größte Observatorium weltweit. Dort wird mittels riesiger Parabolantennen (es sind eine ganze Menge; die Zahl habe ich vergessen), die auf Schienen bewegt werden, in das All "gehorcht" und nach außerirdischen Leben geforscht. Sehr eindrucksvoll, sehr interessant. Ein Besucherzentrum hat das Observatorium auch. Es befindet sich ca. 25 - 30 Mi westlich der I 25 (Abfahrt in Socorro) an am US 60.

Ich nehme eubank mal in Schutz. Zwar hast du im Prinzip recht, aber speziell in meinem Fall, d.h. ich bereise die USA seit 25 Jahren regelmäßig, sind gerade die weniger bekannten Highlights von interesse.
