Pipe Spring National Monument
Within the Kaibab-Paiute Indian Reservation off SR 389, 14 miles west of Fredonia, isPipe Spring National Monument. It is a tribute to the pioneers who explored, settled and developed large portions of the Southwest. It preserves an 1870 cattle ranch consisting of the ranch house and two exterior buildings used as bunkhouses.
Pipe Spring received the first telegraph in Arizona and also served as a way station for weary travelers. Allow 1 hour minimum. Daily 8-4:30; closed Jan. 1, Thanksgiving and Dec. 25. Admission $2, under 17 free. Phone (520) 643-7105.
