Kleiner Denkfehler - Aspen

Ich bin vom 12.11.-14.11. in Aspen, hab dort alles gebucht und eben gesehen, dass das Skigebiet erst am 23.11. eröffnet, obwohl schon massenhaft Schnee liegt! Jetzt die Frage: Wo gibt es in der Nähe (bis 100 KM Entfernung) ein geöffnetes Skigebiet???

Also Breckenridge hat offen, ist aber das Einzigste was ich gefunden habe...dann nehm ich wohl das

Hast du dort schon konkret nachgefragt (Tourist Bureau oder im Hotel) wann die ihr Gebiet aufmachen, evtl. haben die schon früher Schnee und öffnen deshalb auch schon früher?
Geschneit hats ja schon im September und dawurde überall berichtet, das das Rennen der Skigebiete in Colorado begonnen hat, wer als erstes aufmacht!

Ich würde die Buchung stornieren und nach Vail fahren.

SkiCo ponders early opening

If Mother Nature keeps the snow falling and the temperatures down, the Aspen Skiing Co. could open earlier than the Thanksgiving Day scheduled opening.

SkiCo spokesman Jeff Hanle said an early opening would require one more big storm or a few more similar to the storm that moved through Aspen on Wednesday night and Thursday.

"It's definitely possible," Hanle said. "We just need a little more. If the snow cooperates and we don't get a warm spell, we'll do the best we can to get an early opening."

SkiCo is reporting 18 to 20 inches of settled base on the upper areas of Aspen Mountain, Highlands and Snowmass. Eight to 10 inches of new snow has fallen thanks to the storm.

Track packing, which uses snowcats to pack down snow, has begun on the runs accessed by the Ajax Express lift on Aspen Mountain, the intermediate terrain on the top half of Highlands and on the Big Burn and High Alpine areas of Snowmass, Hanle said.

Snowmaking is set to commence on Nov. 1 and once the storm passes, crews will begin ski and boot packing Highland Bowl, according to a SkiCo press release.

Any early opening on Aspen Mountain would most likely be limited to runs off of Ajax Express with downloading on the Silver Queen Gondola, Hanle said.

Elsewhere in Colorado, Wolf Creek is opening today, Loveland and Arapahoe Basin have been open for almost two weeks, Copper Mountain and Keystone are opening Nov. 3 and Breckenridge is scheduled to open Nov. 10.
