Update 22.9.
Nach starken Regenfällen rund um Kanab war die House Rock Valley Road gestern Nachmittag zeitweise nicht passierbar. Flashfloods Buckskin und Paria. Heute morgen Buckskin Crossing mit 4WD und HC passierbar, aber immer noch mit Wasser. Die Straße dahinter war heute Nachmittag schon wieder ziemlich abgetrocknet.

Na ja, es hat mir die White Pocket Nacht zerschossen. So ist es nur noch ein Tagesausflug geworden

Update der Straßenzustände im GSENM vom 19.10.2014.   


Additional Information:

Kane County re-opened the Cottonwood Canyon Road (#400) on Friday the 17th.

Passenger cars might struggle in some soft top-soil areas where the road got a fresh grading. For now the road is best described as High Clearance Two-Wheel Drive (2WD-HC). Nice to be able to get out to Grosvenor Arch and some great hiking routes again! Shine on Sol!  Warm us still for a little while...   
Heads up: the General Deer Hunt began Saturday the 18th. There will be many hunters and hunter camps across the Monument for the next couple of weeks. You should consider wearing clothing that makes your human presence known.

Additional Information:

We've reached that quiet time of year out on Monument roads.  Fewer patrols and updates coming in from staff, and certainly fewer visitors traveling the back roads. Safety/preparedness becomes even more of a factor, as you may not be encountering other travelers and vehicles out there.  Make sure others know of your travel plans, and be prepared for emergency situations weather or otherwise.  You never know when you might have to spend an unplanned night or two out there in the cold temps. And again, always be certain someone back home knows when to expect you.

Falls es jemanden interessiert:

Rund um Escalante / Kanab / Page sind in den letzten 3 Tagen Nachmittags und Nachts relativ heftige Gewitter nieder gegangen.

Wer auf den einschlägigen Gravel-Roads unterwegs sein will sollte sich daher in nächster Zeit lieber vorab bei den entsprechenden Stellen über die aktuellen Straßenzustände informieren bevor er/sie losfährt.
