Hallo Anette,
das ist auch für mich touristisches Niemansland. Auch
Map'n'Go zeigt wenig entlang der Route. Folgendes wird jedoch als besonders sehenswert herausgestellt:
Historic Halifax State Historic Site
Historic Halifax State Historic Site [in/near Halifax, NC], on US 301 Bus. Rte. at St. David and Dobbs sts. Halifax was a commercial river port that became a political arena in 1776 when the "Halifax Resolves," recommending independence from England, were ratified by the colony of North Carolina. Founded in 1760, the town has many restored buildings that reflect its early history.
A free 60-minute guided tour through the center of the old town includes the cemetery, Market Square, the 1820 Burgess Law Office, the 1838 jail, the 1833 Clerk of Courts Office and an archeological museum built over the remains of the 1762 Montfort house. Two shorter guided tours are available: one of the 1760 Owens House and another of the 1808 Sally-Billy Plantation House.
Maps of the village and brochures detailing a self-guiding tour are available at the visitor center, which displays artifacts and shows a 13-minute film. Site open Mon.-Sat. 9-5, Sun. 1-5, Apr.-Oct.; Tues.-Sat. 10-4, Sun. 1-4, rest of year. Free. Phone (252) 583-7191.
