Very active fire behavior was observed today on the south and east fire perimeters. Types of fire seen today included running ground fire, group tree torching, short crown runs, and spotting. In the north and west fire perimeter moderate rates of spread were observed both in advancing ground fire, and burnout operations. Good progress was made with burnout operations in the north and southeast sections. Reliance on aviation resources has been critical in an effort to slow the fires progress to allow suppression resources to establish control lines in areas where accessibility and safety can be achieved. The extremely dry fuels, high winds, and potential for long-range spotting remain a significant concern for the fire to advance beyond control lines.

Meinst du, dass der Rauch sogar bis dort hinziehen wird?

Hängt vom Wind ab. Nach dem Post von Gino kommt er eher aus Süden, so daß der Rauch wohl nördlich bleibt. Lt. wetter.com kommt der Wind mit 6 - 19 Km/h aus Süd (öst- oder westlicher Richtung).

Ich denke, auch wenn der Wind von Norden kommt, wird der Rauch nicht bis Lone Pine ziehen. Sind ja ziemlich viele hohe Berge dazwischen und er wird sich in den Tälern fangen, so wie es bis vorgestern im Yosemite Valley war.

Current Access to Yosemite National Park:.
 •Yosemite Valley is accessible via Highway 41 through Oakhurst and Highway 140 through Mariposa.
 •The Big Oak Flat North Entrance/Highway 120 West is temporarily closed. During this temporary road closure the most direct route into Yosemite National Park for travelers from the Bay Area will be route Highway 140 through Merced and Mariposa, which adds approximately 15 - 30 minutes in drive time to Yosemite Valley.
 •Highway 120 East is temporarily closed from Yosemite Creek to Crane Flat. Visitors have full access to Tuolumne Meadows from the park's east entrance on Highway 120/Tioga Road from Lee Vining but are not able to connect through to Yosemite Valley. All Tuolumne lodging and services are fully operational.

Ich habe eine Alternativroute südlich geplant, da lt. der Email die Übernachtung im Park 24h vorher storniert werden kann nud ich 3 Tage vorher in San Francisco ankomme. Dann kann ich je nach Lage kurzfristig entweder Yosemite oder die Alternative stornieren. Sofern Tioga noch zu sein sollte wirds auf jeden Fall die Alternativroute werden.

Das Mail habe ich heute auch erhalten, wir sind in einer Woche fuer 3 N  in der Y Lodge eingebucht. Aber die Verringerung der Stornofrist von 7 auf 1 Tag (=24h, aber ab wann zaehlen die?) ist eine echte Erleichterung. Sollte es wirklich wieder zu extremer Rauchbelastung im Valley kommen, kann man einigermassen spontan umbuchen.

Ein sehr guter Service von Yosemite, erst die relativ zeitnahe Nail und dann die kulante Fristverkuerzung.

Nach den 3 Ü im Valley wollten wir eigentlich ueber die Tioga Rd weiter Richtung Mammoth Lakes/ Death Valley fahren. Vllt. Ist sie ja bis Ende naechster Woche wieder offen. Da wir vorher von Sueden kommen (Kings Canyon/Sequoia) wird es alternativ dann wohl die 108 als West-Ost-Achse werden.

Lt. InciWeb Seite ist das Feuer jetzt 70% contained, hat allerdings inzwischen die Tioga Rd erreicht. Das kann allerdings auch schon mit den geplanten burnout operations zusammenhaengen. Man rechnet momentan damit, dass das Feuer bis zum 20.9. komplett geloescht ist.

Leider ist die Wettervorhersage nicht so guenstig. Es bleibt heiss und trocken, der Wind dreht tendentiell auf noerdliche Richtungen.

So schlimm wie in Palm Springs / Indian Wells beim Mountain Fire in diesem Jahr wirds in Lone Pine sicher nicht werden:




Wobei nicht annähernd rauskommt, wie gruselig das eigentlich war (von der Stimmung).

Jetzt hat das Feuer doch was gutes, die Leute cancellen ihre Reservierungen im Y Valley. So ist es mir gelungen noch eine weitere Nacht in der Lodge zu buchen, direkt im Anschluß an die betehende Reservierung.
 
 Im April konnte ich weniger Tage als geplant reserieren, weil alles schon ausgebucht war.


Bleibt nur zu hoffen, dass Feuer und Wind uns gnaedig  bleiben

Die 120 kann man wohl nicht benutzen zumindest nicht ganz um von Mammoth Lakes nach Merced zu kommen als Os-West Achse..Wir kommen vorher aus Las Vegas. So wie es aussieht, muss ich doch unten rum, dann in Merced oder so schlafen und dann am nächsten Tag mal kurz rein um dann weiter nach San Fran zu fahren..oder wie würdet ihr das sehen?

Ursprünglich wollten wir in Mammoth Lakes übernachten, dann durch den Park und dann in Merced schlafen..

Evergreen Road is opened to Evergreen Lodge. State Hwy 120 is open to Crane Flat. The Big Oak Flat Road is open. Businesses are open and providing services (gasoline food and lodging) for travelers.
State Route 120 (Tioga Road) remains closed from Crane Flat to 1 1⁄2 miles east of White Wolf. Park visitors can access Tuolumne Meadows from SR-395 via the park entrance at Tioga Pass. Cherry Lake Road is closed at State Route 120. Evergreen Road Old Yosemite Road and Hardin Flat Road are closed. Some secondary roads within the fire area remain closed to non-residents.

Ja, Crane Flat ist die Station/ Kreuzung wo die Straße ins Valley geht. White Wolf ist ca. 15 Meilen weiter Richtung Tenaya Lake, also Ostausgang.
Deine Route funzt daher nicht.Du mußt umfahren.
